Week of March 8

Thank you again, parents, for attending PACK Day.  I hope that you enjoyed sharing a day in the life of your student!

This week, we will continue our work on World War II.  We’ll look at the ending of the war, and will start watching "Letters From Iwo Jima" this week.  Students whose parents opted out of the R-rated film and students who failed to bring in the signed syllabus will be given an alternative assignment for equal grade.

Key Dates:  Monday - homework packet due; Thursday - Mr. Sutton’s amazing WWII living history presentation; Friday - Minimum Day  - Progress Report Grades will be wrapped up.  For students working on the alternative assignment to "Letters from Iwo Jima," click here.

Week of February 16

We will be wrapping up our studies of the rise of totalitarian governments this week - will be watching Swing Kids on Tuesday and Wednesday to see examples of propaganda and indoctrination.

I will be collecting your first homework packet of the semester on Wednesday, and we will assemble it in class on Tuesday.  On Thursday, you will be taking a mini-test on totalitarianism.

Don’t forget to finish your comments on the wiki project (due by class time on Wednesday).

Week of February 9

This week, we will look at the political problems of Weimar Germany and Hitler’s rise to power.  We will also be working on part one of our propaganda projects - ensure that your wiki page is completed by end of class period on Friday.

Week of February 1

Welcome to semester 2!  We will continue our study of totalitarianism, focusing on the right-wing regimes of Fascist Italy and Nazi Germany.

Week of January 18

This week, we will wrap up our study of totaitarianism, focusing on Stalin’s Soviet Union.  We will begin reviewing for the final exam this Thursday.  A study Guide/Exam outline will be provided later this week.

Week of January 4

Welcome back!  I hope that you and your families had a great holiday!

We will be wrapping up the semester this month.  This week, we will be looking at the effects of World War I around the world.  We will then examine the Russian Revolution and the rise of Stalin and his totalitarian techniques.

Start digging out old homework packets - they will be helpful in preparing for your final exam.

Week of December 14

This week, we will be wrapping up World War I.  Important things this week:

Unit test on Thursday:  use homework packet cover sheets as your guide as what to study.

Presentation of Poem/Letter on Friday:  No excuses - you will need to read it to the class.  I sang last week, so there is no way that you can do anything more embarrassing!

Unfortunately, it also bears mentioning….

Please do your own work.  Copying the work of others, whether it is to fill in a notesheet, complete a study guide or a movie guide, a project, or whatever else, is academic dishonesty

We go over the work, so you have a chance to ask if you don’t understand.  If you’re absent, you bear the responsibility to put in the time to use the resources I provide online.  If it is not done, you’re looking at losing a couple of points.  But, if you are caught cheating, you get a "0" on the whole thing and it goes on record.  Your second time getting caught, you’re dropped from the class regardless of grade.

Week of December 7

We will be continuing our study of World War I this week, looking particularly at the battles, strategies, and impact on the soldiers of the war.
